2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Gets More Horsepower, Payload

If you’re one of the lucky Texans who has ordered your all-new Ford F-150 Lightning, we’ve got great news. Ford has revealed that the 2022 F-150 Lightning will deliver even more than bargained for in key areas like range and horsepower.

Rolling out nationwide and across Texas, the extended-range 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning now packs 580 horsepower, up from the original estimate of 563 ponies. And if you got a standard-range F-150 Lightning, you get more, too — 452 horsepower, up from 426.

Another figure that’s getting a boost is payload, which increases 235 pounds from the original target to 2,235 pounds when properly equipped. A properly equipped F-150 Lightning will also be able to tow up to 10,000 pounds.[1]

And if that’s not all enough, Ford also revealed that the F-150 Lightning will get more maximum range with the extended-range battery option. Most ER trucks now max out at 320 miles on a single charge, and the Platinum now achieves a clean 300 miles with a full battery.[2]
