Tips for Preparing Your Vehicle for Camping

Winter weather doesn’t last long around here in Brownsville, Texas. Soon enough, we will have the perfect temperatures for outdoor adventures. If camping is part of your springtime plans, our team here at Tipton Ford has some tips for helping you prep your vehicle.
Start with an overall car care checklist. AAA, for example, recommends checking your tires, brakes, battery, engine oil, fluid levels, wipers, belts, hoses, and A/C before you hit the road. Better yet, visit our service department and we’ll inspect these systems for you.
Restock your vehicle’s emergency supplies such as flashlights (with fresh batteries), first-aid kits, bottled water, non-perishable food, booster cables, and a basic tool kit.
Pack convenient camping gear, like an inflatable car air mattress, solar-powered chargers and lanterns, a portable stove, and a portable outdoor shower. Outfit your car with window screens for privacy. If you don’t fancy sleeping inside your vehicle, consider a tent designed to fit over your trunk or invest in a rooftop tent. Remember to download your maps ahead of time, either via your vehicle’s navigation system or on your smartphone.
If you need assistance with preparing your vehicle for camping, your friendly technicians at Tipton Ford are here for you.
